All of the images in our portfolio are samples of our work shot in our in-home studio. We know Boudoir images can look vulnerable to you.  However, let me assure you that is because we are very good at what we do! While you are here it is of the utmost importance to us you are comfortable. Once you see and experience the setting in which we work you will completely relax, laugh and enjoy yourself! You will leave feeling wonderful saying “That was a blast! I am so glad I did this, I had so much fun!

We set aside the entire day just for you. Other than your stylist who will leave once you are gorgeous, no one else will be coming or going while you are here. Making your session completely private and devoting the session only to you! You are our focus.

Everyone has their own idea of what they consider sexy to be and boudoir photography has a very wide range. Our pre shoot questionnaire will give us a clear idea of the direction you want your session to go. The style of your Boudoir session is up to you!

At Edge boudoir photography we will a spend time with you in your private dressing room during hair and makeup finding out more of your likes and intention for your session.

You are welcome to bring as much wardrobe as you like. There is plenty of room and I (Joni ) will help you select the right pieces to flatter your body type the most.

As Boudoir photographers we understand you are in a sensitive position. One which we stay mindful of during your time with us. Joni will do all the adjusting and give you all the assistance you require for you to look your sexy best!

As your Boudoir Photographer we are fully aware our clients often have to steal away for their session as it is frequently a surprise gift. For the convenience of our clients a return trip is not necessary! Everything will be handled without you coming back. We have found this to be a huge plus to our clients.

We feel Boudoir photography and our clients greatly benefit from multiple scene and lighting set ups with attention to detail. We switch out fabrics, headboards, furniture, lamps… to customize your scenes for you. This way you have many different looks in your images which makes your session unique and not at all cookie cutter style.

As Boudoir photographers we are well aware these are usually surprise gifts and secrecy is a must. We will only contact you how and when you want us to. It is also most often true our clients have to steal away for their session. To simplify things as much as we possibly can for our clients we do not require you to make a return visit! We have found this alone to be an extremely appealing perk.

Drum roll please...Joni’s Boudoir Experience!

I’m writing this blog of my own boudoir experience to encourage every woman she is beautiful and deserves her own Boudoir session!

I am putting myself completely “out there” Before and afters and final images!

As I state in the video I am a 55 year old mother of 4, grandmother of 4 and have had 14 surgeries (all non-elective) I have my own insecurities as most women do. Things I don’t like about myself which cause inhibition. Yet, I feel so strongly that ALL women need to indulge in boudoir photography I allowed myself to be “exposed”.

Many women come to us saying boudoir photography is out of their comfort zone. So we decided what better way than to share an experience from the heart of my own session!  As the Boudoir Photographers ourselves we ask you to trust us, believe in us and perhaps put yourself in a position you perceive to be uncomfortable. So I did my own session and we are going to share it with you all for the purpose of encouragement and perhaps even getting you to feel like you know me a little bit.

In this blog you will see a video of me with NO hair and makeup and poor lighting. This is NOT a position I allow myself to be seen in, not at all! I figure since I truly believe in boudoir photography  I will do what we are asking you to do and share my  boudoir experience for all to see!

It’s not uncommon for women to be nervous about a photo shoot in lingerie. They look at our portfolio and think, “I could never do that”. We are very good at what we do! The finished images look quite intimate but that is not at all the experience. You will be amazed how quickly you put you at ease and you relax. There is a lot of socializing during hair and makeup where we get to know each other in our in home studio, which also helps. You will do a lot more laughing than anything. It is a very informal environment and remember, John and I do this all the time. We are seeing you as artists not really any different than a doctor sees a patient. Although we do it all the time we realize that you don’t. We are very sensitive to this. We will shoot your session in the style you want soft to risque, that decision is yours, not ours.

We have a large in house wardrobe, fabrics, jewelry, shoes and more. We of course do not have the most intimate of apparel however, we have acquired many extras to cinch a shot! Many of the items that make a Boudoir shoot are items women sometimes don’t want to purchase so, we have found it a great advantage for all to purchase some of these to have here when needed.

We recently shot a client that had tattoo that had a powerful message behind it. We hear similar stories from almost every person we shoot. It’s okay to not be “perfect”, it’s okay to love yourself in the “here and now”. Boudoir is about more than just a photo shoot, it’s about accepting and embracing yourself and your sexuality. No one is perfect, we’re all “perfectly imperfect”. Embrace your inner YOU.

“Perfectly imperfect - Every day I get up and look at myself in the mirror and every day I caught myself getting frustrated with what I see. My body isn’t the image of perfection people see in magazines, online, or what society pushes as ‘perfect’ and I’ve always had self image issues growing up and still do. After my husband and I had our children, it got worse. Serious tiger stripes and things that never go back like I thought they should. He always told me that I was beautiful even when I certainly wasn’t feeling it and I even began questioning whether he was telling me the truth or not. As our boys have got older, I’ve been determined not to let the way I have felt about myself become the way they feel about themselves nor do I want them to have unrealistic expectations about their future spouses. Time to put that all too common misconception to rest for good! We often hear clients say, “I am over 45 and therefore too old for boudoir photography”. To that we say, “phooey!” We have 2 grandmothers in our portfolio alone!

With our experience, advice on the correct wardrobe and posing, our skilled stylists, and an expressed desire to have you looking your best well, you can’t miss with Edge Boudoir Photography!

Boudoir photography is a fantastic avenue to rejuvenating your sense of self. Gone (thank goodness!) are the days when after motherhood or one’s 40th Birthday was the end of sexy. Throw out those preconceived notions you may have succumb to in your life. Those days are gone; gone for good we say! More than half of the women in our portfolio are mothers. Many of them have stretch marks and a little saggy skin. We understand that your body isn’t perfect. We’ll work with you to minimize the things you don’t like and showoff the things you do.

(Un)Dress for Success

Don't have much lingerie? Don’t worry, we are here to help guide you.

Choosing the right pieces of lingerie is a key element to enhancing your photos and it is easier than you think.  You don’t have to have a lot, they only need to be in good condition, matching and flattering to your figure.

A teddy or corset will look good on any body type.

If you are full breasted, purchase items with control and support and be sure bras are not “full coverage”

If you're smaller breasted the adorable bralettes are for you, as well as push up and enhancing bras, whichever your prefer.

Regarding panties; less is more!  Cheekies at most, thongs are best and don't forget the details! Not just plain panties but get something with a little detail in them they are great for close ups!

A sheer babydoll or chemise is fantastic for some of our specialty shots. The support here will not matter as much as it does for a bra.

If this is a maternity, bridal or a gift for “him” be sure to bring the little gifts he may have given you to personalize your shoot. Maybe that necklace or bracelet that he says you never wear. Your bridal jewelry, veil, garter, bridal shoes and so forth for a bridal shoot. Those baby shoes you bought or the earrings he gave you when you found out you were expecting for maternity.

We do have a large inventory of jewelry, shoes, body chains, accessories and clothing. However, These are not to be relied upon due to sizing. We do not have intimate items (bras and panties).

Lastly and most importantly, RELAX! Trust us,we are professionals and so are our hair and makeup artists. We will all work together to have you looking your best!

Wardrobe: Your wardrobe doesn’t have to be extensive. However, it does need to be well-fitting and flattering to your figure, in good condition and coordinated. You can do a lot with a few cute bra and panty sets.

Hair and Makeup: Professional hair, makeup, and nails are a must! Don’t skimp on the details! Knowing that you should let a professional style your hair and makeup with products that are high quality and have staying power is key. Besides, take in the full experience! Let yourself be the entire focus and get pampered! Get a mani/pedi a day or two before your shoot. Pamper yourself!

Confidence: Be confident. Be confident that you’ll look amazing. Be confident that you hired a team that will bring out your best.  We’re professionals, put your trust in us to bring out your inner diva!
